the SIR reverb creates reverb by referring to (in a manner of speaking) an actual recording of the space being modelled, and it doesn’t stop there of course, the same principle can be applied to effects units and the like

the other best free plugin out there is the fabulous e-phonic tape delay, and while i would love to get some midi control of this, it’s simplicity is what makes it, their retro-delay is flexible and configurable enough to keep you busy!

i think the thing that impresses me most is that it takes literally a couple of seconds to load.. the executeable is under 7MB and a recording of a song with 25 tracks of audio and 5 plugin chains shows me a memory footprint of less than 50 MB…
