at network 23, we support and promote Open Source Software, and yes as you may know or suspect, that is software which is Free.
we support Open Source, not because we don’t like paying for things, but we certainly don’t support paying for stuff if it isn’t inherently neccessary.
If you have a specialist task to perform, then it makes sense that you have the best or at least a XXXX tool for the job.
For jobs such as web browsing, email, web authoring, image manipulation and even
whole computer operating systems, we are dealing with global standards, that are themselves transparent, there are ten plus years of software development and community input that make these products the best option.
Operating Systems
While we do use and support the various Windows operating systems, we think it is important to acknowledge that there are alternatives. The most prevalent, with the most comprehensive support, is Ubuntu. Based around the Linux family of operating systems, Ubuntu is incredibly user friendly and has a fantastic array of free software availble to run on it.
